24 years after The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired it’s final episode, it’s been announced that the cast will be reuniting once again for a long awaited reunion special that us 80’s babies can appreciate the heck out of.
Variety is reporting that in celebration of the show’s 30th anniversary and unscripted Fresh Prince reunion special is set to air on HBO Max as the new streaming service has the exclusive rights to the show’s 6-year catalogue. The special is set to bring back Will Smith, the new Chris Paul, Alfonso Ribeiro (we love those commercials), Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, and of course, DJ Jazzy Jeff. Unfortunately James “Uncle Phil” Avery passed away in 2013 but we’re sure his presence will loom large in the reunion special.
Marcus Raboy will direct the special. Rikki Hughes will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser, and Brad Haugen for Westbrook Media also executive producing.
No word on whether or not this will tie into the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot that was announced not too long ago or even if it’ll take place in the same “universe” but best believe we’ll be tuning in when the special airs on HBO Max around Thanksgiving this year.
We can’t wait to see that “Carlton dance” in all it’s glory once again…
