Well, that only took 16 years.
After releasing their fan favorite Bad Boys II in 2003, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith finally return with the swan song to their action packed comedic cop franchise, Bad Boys For Life (this title’s Hip-Hop reference is straight flying over the heads of Millennials who aren’t familiar with P. Diddy’s earlier work).
In the first trailer to the threequel, Detective Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) finds himself ready to hang up his gun holster for good as he’s traveled way beyond his “woosah” zen place and actually opts to try to “penetrate” a perp’s soul with his heart only to realize that won’t work too well with criminals facing certain arrest. For his part, his partner Detective Mike Lowry (Smith) is just fine with his life consisting of shootouts and high-speed chases on highways all across South Beach, Miami.
While details about the actual plot aren’t given away in the film’s first trailer, we do find out that Lowry convinces Burnett to go on one last ride as a team before retiring for good. What ensues are action sequences sandwiched in-between the kind of comedic dialogue that made the last two installments of the franchise box office smashes.
Check out the trailer for Bad Boys For Life below and get ready to ride with the OG comedians come January 17, 2020.
