Donald Trump has not only made it obvious that he had no interest in helping his hometown of New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic because of it’s elusive electoral votes, but also that he’s no fan of the Black Lives Matter movement as he feels it will “burn down this system.” So when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that he’d commission to have “Black Lives Matter” painted in giant letters in front of Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan a la Washington, D.C., the 45th President of The United States blew a gasket.
According to The New York Post, the Apprentice reality star turned President fumed on twitter at the idea of having “Black Lives Matter” shining for all to see in front of his pricey Big Apple real estate. But instead of owning his own displeasure at the news of the move, Donald Trump decided to project it onto the officers of the NYPD.
“Told that @NYCMayor Bill de Blasio wants to paint the fabled & beautiful Fifth Avenue, right in front of Trump Tower/Tiffany, with a big yellow Black Lives Matter sign. “Pigs in a Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon”, referring to killing Police, is their chant. NYC Police are furious!”
Really? The NYPD are furious about the move? We’ve yet to hear an official statement from them on the matter, but ok.
This would be the second “Black Lives Matter” sign on the pavement of New York City as just a few weeks ago the likes of Spike Lee, New York Attorney General Letitia James and the Rev. Al Sharpton helped paint the statement on the streets of Brooklyn (R.I.P. B.I.G.). Donald Trump didn’t have anything to say about the Kings County mural but we can all guess why he didn’t.
But for now the big yellow letters that racists hate to read will indeed be painted on Fifth Ave. between 56th and 57th street in front of the President’s 58-floor high-rise.
Now we all have a reason to visit Trump Tower in the near future though it won’t be for the building itself.
