I Wish I Could Unsee that ‘Jem and the Holograms’ Trailer

I’d really like to know what the fuck went through the minds of the people who decided to make a Jem and the Holograms movie happen. The official trailer has been released and it was Truly Not Outrageous. Okay, I got that out of my system.

Diehard fans of  the Jem and the Holograms cartoon, which ran in the late 80s, have been aware of and behind a movement to make the movie happen for years. I’m talking almost a decade (probably even longer). Said fans are now probably in their late 20s and early 30s, so why the hell was that trailer basically Hannah Montana but with a band?!

I get it, they wanted to appeal to a younger audience (apparently people who were born after 2000), but everything about that movie trailer was blasphemy. There’s no Synergy and there are no Misfits. NO. MISFITS. BLASPHEMY!

Sorry about the outburst. I’m just really upset. Hollywood is known for being disrespectful, but this is just…BEYOND.

I’m not posting the trailer, you can search for it and be sorely disappointed after watching it.

There’s nothing we can do about this now but pray for a flop, and that the rest of our beloved 80s and 90s cartoons stay in the time capsule. Who am I kidding, though, this is Hollywood. SMH.

P.S. The following photo is from Holloween. I’m serious about my fandom.
