There’s a possibility that a Bed-Stuy street could be co-named after Spike Lee’s classic film, Do the Right Thing, reports the Daily News.

Brooklyn’s Community Board 3 voted Monday in support of co-naming Stuyvesant Ave., between Lexington Ave. and Quincy St., “Do The Right Thing Way,” said chairwoman Tremaine Wright.

Scenes from the 1989 film, which turns 25 this summer, were shot on that block. Lee, 57, who grew up in Brooklyn, posted the photo you see above on his Instagram page. It reads:

“Good morning, people. Great, Great News Today. The City Of New York Has Changed Stuyvesant Street Between Lexington And Quincy In The Brooklyn Hood Of BED-STUY DO OR DIE As Do The Right Thing Way.”

He’s excited so he jumped the gun. The move isn’t official just yet. The board’s recommendation is just an advisory. The e name change must be approved by the City Council.

Sounds like a no-brainer to us! Hopefully they make this happen for real, for real.
