Key and Peele to reboot ‘Police Academy’ franchise

key-and-peeleKeegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele having been killing it on Comedy Central with their sketch show, Key & Peele the past couple of years. And with success, doors open. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the duo have signed on to produce New Line’s reboot of the Police Academy franchise.

For those unfamiliar, Police Academy had seven films in the ’80s and early ’90s about a group of police cadets who were always called upon to save the city. The comedies were in the same flavor as the Naked Gun and Airplane movies.

There’s no word if Key and Peele will star in the film, but we think they’ll at least make an appearance.

The films made a star of Michael Winslow whose sound effect gags were highlights of the movies. Here’s some highlights for old times sake:
