Back in 2011, Anthony Robles became the NCAA wrestling champ — and he did it with one leg. And according to Deadline, his story is being made into a movie. Producers David Crockett (The Town, Hugo, The Gambler) and Andy Fraser have optioned Robles autobiography Unstoppable: From Underdog To Undefeated: How I Became A Champion. Production on the film is set to begin in 2015.
The book follows Robles life as he was born with only one leg and grew up learning to live with the challenges along with being raised by a single mother in Mesa, Arizona. He started wrestling in 8th grade and worked his way up to winning high school state championships in both his junior and senior years. His strength relies on taking advantage of his low center of gravity for defense and incredible upper body strength for his offensive moves, including one he created.
