New Web Series Alert: ‘An African City’ Chronicles Modern Women of the Motherland

Web Series

Every now and then I stumble upon a new YouTube series that makes me stop and gawk. That is what happened a few days ago when I discovered An African City. The series, created by Nicole Amarteifio, centers around the lives of five successful African women as they navigate life as modernistas in Accra, Ghana. The hook is, these women while born in Africa have all spent most of their lives living in the United States or the UK, so adjusting to life in Africa as adults is a challenge.

They confide in each other as they learn new lessons about their dual identities, cultural differences and in sex, love and dating. Episode three was released earlier this week so you’re not far behind. I binge-watched all three (they’re about 15-20 minutes each) and encourage you to do the same. By the way, the Africa meets 21st Century fashion and pops of color on these beautiful brown girls is amazing.
