Idris Elba tapped to voice Shere Khan in Disney’s ‘Jungle Book’

IdrisShereDisney is in the midst of putting together its live action film for The Jungle Book, to be directed by Jon Favreau. Although the cast is still being worked out, the first announcement is Idris Elba being tapped to voice Shere Khan, the deadly tiger from the classic Rudyard Kipling stories according to Deadline. Apparently the film will be a mix of live action and special effects, similar to Life of Pi.

Warner Bros. is also moving forward with its own version of The Jungle Book, but Disney appears to be moving faster to have theirs in theaters first. There’s no word on target release dates though.

Check out Shere Khan from the 1967 animated film, The Jungle Book, from Disney. SO gangsta.
