According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler Perry is moving out Los Angeles. The writer-director is closing down the offices of his L.A.-based 34th Street Films company after Lionsgate chose not to renew their “first look” partnership. The company launched in 2008 and was an offshoot of Perry’s main biz, Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, and was created to give opportunities to up and coming writers and directors.
Some of the films released through the company include For Colored Girls, Peeples, and next month’s Single Mom’s Club.
Lionsgate is still in the Tyler Perry business, however, but it looks like they want to stay with the films he writes and directs.
