Taraji P. Henson joins Terrence Howard on ‘Empire’

tarajiNot only is Terrence Howard going back into the hip-hop world, Taraji P. Henson is joining him for the ride once again. Henson has been added to the upcoming Lee Daniels’-helmed, Empire, TV series for FOX. Henson and Howard were co-stars in the lauded hip-hop film, Hustle and Flow.

According to various reports, Henson will portray Cookie Lyon, Lucious Lyons’ (Howard) ex-wife. Cookie is described as a sexy, outrageous over-the-top force that spent 17 years in prison for funneling drug money through Lucious’ music empire. Now she’s out and wants what she’s owed.

Jussie Smollet was also cast in the show as Lucious and Cookie’s gay son who is also a musical prodigy but refuses to take part of his father’s “empire.” This is starting to sound interesting.

Henson was last seen helping solve crimes on CBS’ Person of Interest.
