Jada Pinkett Smith to play gangster boss in ‘Gotham’ series

jada-pinkett-smithIf you’ve been keeping up with the direction of FOX’s upcoming Batman prequel series, Gotham, you know that Batman actually won’t be in it until the series finale. Instead the series will focus on how everyone else in Gotham evolved around Bruce Wayne, like Commissioner Gordon, the villains and Wayne as child.

Now, according to Entertainment Weekly, Jada Pinkett Smith has been added to the series as Fish Mooney. Apparently, Mooney is “a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner, she’s got the street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities to read people like an open book. Imposing and hotheaded, she’s not one to be crossed.”

Pinkett Smith confirmed that she took the job on her Facebook page:

Last night, I decided to accept the role of Fish Mooney, who is the sadistic villain in thee upcoming Batman prequel, Gotham, for Fox TV. I’ve committed to a year to work alongside a very talented cast, a super cool, creative and talented head writer and an extraordinary director. This one…is going to be funnnnnn!

Stay tuned:)

Fish Mooney isn’t a recognizable name to most comic book heads, so there might be a transformation of some sort in the future. Will her participation make you want to check it out?
