John Singleton to direct Tupac Shakur biopic

tupacAccording to Variety, John Singleton is back on to direct the Tupac Shakur biopic and is slated to start filming in June.

The untitled film had its ups and downs over the past several years thanks to disagreements between Pac’s mother Afeni Shakur and the producers from Morgan Creek. Singleton was originally slated to direct but dropped out because of all the drama. Antoine Fuqua stepped in after that but he stepped aside because he didn’t like the script and couldn’t find the right lead.

But now everything is settled and Afeni will be an executive producer on the film with Singleton rewriting the existing script, directing and co-producing the film. The story will follow Shakur’s early life, his journey to hip-hop stardom and his 1996 murder in Las Vegas. For those who don’t remember, Tupac starred in Singleton’s 1993 film, Poetic Justice.

The only thing left is to find the actor to play the role of Pac. Who would you choose?
