The film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom continues to win over audiences across the world. At the recent Capri-Hollywood Film Festival in Capri, Italy, Idris Elba, who plays Nelson Mandela in the film and Naomie Harris, who plays Winnie Mandela, were awarded Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress for their work.
According to Variety, Elba won the crowd over with his acceptance speech when he mentioned he’s half Senegalese and half Sicilian.
In other news, Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network has snatched up the broadcast rights to Mandela: Walk to Freedom and will be airing the film in 2017. This follows the network also snatching up the broadcast rights to Lee Daniel’s The Butler to also air in 2017.
